CNY Women’s Network

Backstory: I was connected with Alex Canavan through a mutual friend. Alex and I had a Zoom call so I could learn about the CNY Women’s Network. We immediately hit it off, and I offered to help with the upcoming annual Women’s Summit, on International Women’s Day, that she was planning. I took on the role of ‘Vendor Liaison’. Not going to lie, I didn’t totally know what that entailed…but Alex impressed me with her visions and what she had going. Fast forward a couple of months, and now I’m working with the Network and The Collective (the membership brand of the Network) to plan events!

Alex started The CNY Women’s Network a couple of years ago to connect female leaders in the central New York region with one another, for both personal and professional growth, connection, mentoring, education, and socializing. She said she created it selfishly because she was having a hard time creating her network and making friends as an adult. SAME!

My first event experience with The Network was at the Summit that I mentioned. It was held at the OnCenter, which in and of itself is impressive to me. There were about 200 female business owners, mothers, leaders, and change-makers in attendance. The speakers were kickass, the vibe of the day was so inspiring, and I left feeling so motivated to not only keep Home Town Events rolling, but to add on the new things I’ve been considering. If you’ve made it this far, I’ll share that a ‘Vendor Liaison’ is the person to organize and manage the vendor fair of about 30 vendors; it was not an easy job but I am so honored to have been a part of it.

If you’re in central NY and a leader in any capacity (hint*that’s basically everyone), you should follow along and get involved! Alex continues to amaze me with her forethought and visions, and the team she is creating is definitely making moves. I can’t wait to see what else we come up with!
